나뭇가지와 진흙으로 거기 조그만 오두막집을 한 채 짓고,

아홉 이랑의 콩밭을 일구며, 꿀벌집도 마련하리라,

그리하여 꿀벌 소리 요란스런 그 숲 속에서 홀로 살아가리라.

그곳에서 나는 얼마간의 평화를 느끼리라, 그것이 천천히

아침장막으로부터 귀뚜리가 노래하는 곳으로 방울져 떨어지고 있으리니,

그곳에선 한밤중에도 온통 어렴풋한 빛으로 가득하고, 한낮은 자주 빛으로 타오르리라,

그리고 저녁 즈음엔 홍방울새 나래소리 그득하리라.

나는 이제 일어나 가련다, 밤이나 낮이나

호숫가에서 나지막이 찰랑대는 물결소리 항상 들려오고 있으니,

철로 위를 달리거나 회색 포장도로 위에 있을 때에도

그 소리 가슴 속 깊이 들을 수 있으니.
